SULLY Indoor Bowling Club completed their league season with a win over Taff Ely at Sully on Saturday, 123 - 111 gaining 18 out of the 22 points available.

Sully won five of their 10 league games and were unlucky not to have managed a couple more wins, losing two games after leading into the last couple of ends.

Saturday was slightly different with Sully holding a comfortable 17 shot lead after 15 ends. Taff Ely then upped their game and started to reduce the deficit but Sully played solidly to maintain the lead and win overall by 12 shots.

Once again the rink skipped by Martin Clarke was backbone of the Sully team winning by 16 shots ably supported by Dave Curtis, Roy Richards and Graham Cogbill.

The rink of Brian Griffiths was another to perform well when with only one in the game after the 14th end they picked up seven shots on the 15th end then went on to win by nine shots.

The other winning rinks were those of Dave Snelling and Mel Newman both started well and maintained their form each winning by four shots.

Special mention must go to Des Bannister who helped out at the last minute due to a late withdrawal and had a superb game at lead on Mel Newman’s rink.

Overall, the league season proved difficult due to availability issues, with some occasions barely enough names to put out a team. Yet with more commitment from other club members, Sully would be able to select teams good enough to gain promotion.

A big thanks must go to those who supported the Stadium team throughout the season.
