Primary schools net regional final places

THE Penarth Netball League has once again provided fun and enjoyable sporting opportunities in a non-competitive environment to help Years 5 and 6 pupils develop their skills.

The final few weeks, however, take on a more competitive edge, with primary schools competing against each other to gain entry into area finals run by Welsh Netball.

The competition is organised by the Vale Council’s Dragon Sport team, who work in partnership with Welsh Netball, and the first round of play-off matches ended with Cogan progressing on a superior goal difference over Evenlode, after battling through highly competitive matches between the two schools and Ysgol Pen-y-Garth.

The second round of play-off matches involved St Andrew’s Major, Dinas Powys, and Albert and Victoria and it all went down to the last match between St Andrew’s and Victoria, with the latter emerging with a 5-2 victory.

Victoria and Cogan now represent the Vale of Glamorgan in the regional final competition on April 8 at Cardiff University’s Talybont sports campus.
