FORMER chief executive David Moffett will be launching his bid to return to the board of the Welsh Rugby Union on Friday, writes Chris Kirwan.

Moffett will be unveiling his manifesto – called One Wales – at the Castle Hotel in Neath where the first meeting of the WRU took place in 1881.

He hopes to be elected onto the WRU's board of directors and then stand for the position of chairman, a role currently carried out by former international David Pickering.

"I disagree with the WRU's stance on just about everything, from the way that the community game works to its relationship with the professional game," he said.

"There is a better way of doing things and if the clubs endorse my manifesto I will do all I can to represent them as independent chairman."

Moffett, who was at the helm when regional rugby was introduced, toured the country holding question and answer sessions while preparing his manifesto and has been asking fans for feedback at games in the Premiership and the Swalec Leagues. He will email and post member clubs a copy of the document.
