DINAS Powys Cricket Club is gearing up for the new season by holding its annual Cricket Force weekend.

This year the event will be held on Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13, with both days starting at 9.45am.

Huw Lloyd, leader of the weekend, said:

“It’s a little later this year so firstly the weather will hopefully be a little warmer.

"Secondly, this year will be very much like ones from previous years – primarily ensuring that the Common area is fit for purpose."

He added that the club needed members and supporters to pitch in to help prepare the ground for the new season.

“The continuing success of the Club rests in part on the participation of all its members and supporters,” he said.

“I ask you to give some time to help this weekend as our Common facility is integral to us offering the very best we can to our players and to visiting teams. Please make yourself available.”

He added: “In general terms the main areas this year for work are;

-Work related to the Square and outfield.

-Making good existing facilities and in particular repairing and repainting fencing.

-Some work at Parc Bryn-y-Don in relation to the sight-screens.

“I would be very grateful if you could let me know if you are able to make part or all of the weekend."
