THERE were a couple of shock results in the Penarth Darts League last week, with leaders Ex’s suffering an 8-5 home defeat at the hands of RAFA A and Golden Lion gaining considerable ground with an impressive 11-1 away win.

Hosts Ex’s won both pairs 2-1 through Steve (100, 100 x8, 140) and partner Mark (x8) and Paul (100, 140,100) and Jack (x8, 114, x14).

Charlie (100) and Ian (100, 100 x15) and Paddy (100) and Paul (x16) took points for RAFA.

In the singles, RAFA won all but one, with Charlie hitting a 75 out to come from behind to win.

Ian (100 x8) was given a throw at a double and took the win and Paul hit x11 to take the last of the RAFA’s singles wins.

Paul was the Ex’s sole winner with x20.

Paddy hit 134 for RAFA so, with the scores level at 5-5, it was Ex’s who had first shot at the double in the team leg but RAFA stuck to their guns and, when a chance came out of the blue, Charlie Cook hit an 80 out shot, finishing on x16, to take the three points and the win.

With their impressive win at the Coronation Club, Lion closed the gap on the Ex’s to six points.

Lion took the first pairs 2-0, with Paul (100 100, x16) and Nathan (x1), and the second pairs 2-1 through Steve (100, 100 x5) and Mike (100 140 x10, 102).

Stuart hit x16 to take the Coro’s only win of the evening.

Lion’s singles wins came from Steve (100 x3), Rob (100 x2), Paul (x16) and Mike (x10).

Coro’s hopes of rescuing something in the team leg were dashed when Steve hit 100 and Nathan ( x1) to seal Lion’s win.

Home side RAFA B and Cross Keys were engaged in a high-scoring battle, with the former emerging with a hard fought 9-4 win.

The pairs were shared, with RAFA winning the first 2-1 thanks to Anthony (140, 100 x2, 140) and partner Gary (100 x16).

Peter took a leg in reply for the Keys when he hit x10.

The second pairs went to the Keys 2-1, with Kevin (100 100 x5) and (119 x2) and partner Tony (140, 100 100).

Dave (100) and Lee (100, 100 x8) took a leg for RAFA who then won three singles through Anthony (100 x12), David, with a double top/double top, and Lee (100 x4).

Kevin (100 x1) was the sole winner for the Keys.

The team leg to seal the win went to the RAFA when Dave hit 100 and Lee wrapped things up on x8.

Welcoming the Station, Legion produced a valiant effort but the visitors clocked up their biggest (11-1) – and best win – of the current season.

Station took both pairs, with Maurice (x1) and Paul (100, 101 x2) and Russ (x8) and (x16) and partner Mitch (125).

Stuart hit 100 and Martin (109) to take the only point of the evening for the Legion.

All four singles went Station’s way, with Mitch (x8), Paul (100 x5), Russ (100 x20), Maurice (x1). Davie hit 140 for Legion.
