WITH the Penarth Windsor Lawn Tennis Club gearing up for the launch of its100th summer season, a series of impressive results from junior members points to a bright future.

Three of the club's best 9&U players were in action at the Black Dog Tennis Masters Final, the culmination of a winter-long series of tournaments for players from across South Wales. Windsor was the best represented club, with three players finishing in the top eight.

Rohan Rayani, Leo Sullivan and Kreshay Bharwani competed well in the finals at Cardiff Metropolitan University, with Kreshay scooping third place to end a very successful season.

Tennis squad head coach Robert Wedlake was delighted with the results. He said: "The three boys were a credit to the club, not only for their performances but for their effort, commitment and attitude which were all praised by the tournament director."

The weekend also brought the launch of the first South Wales County Challenger squads, where players viewed as serious contenders for South Wales 12&U/14&U representation were in action. Windsor's Jack Rees and Jack Ritchie were both selected after performing well in county tournaments.

In team tennis format, the club's Aegon mini and junior sides are practising hard for a busy season, with Windsor having several age group teams in the top South Wales divisions. They will be buoyed by the club's participation in the Vale Winter League where Windsor won two out of five age groups - Mini Red (Jack Killborn, Holly Ritchie, Harry Ritchie, Felix Bockelmann-Evans and Neirin Gilani) and Orange (Rohan Rayani, Leo Sullivan, Oscar Warne, Kreshay Bharani, Lucas Roberts, Jack Kilborn and Bella McIntyre).
