IN BRILLAINT sunshine on the first day of summer Penarth and Dinas Runners took part in the Forest of Dean Half Marathon, March 30.

For many of the runners it was the ideal preparation for their assault on the London or Liverpool marathons.

In a tough race that featured hills and cross country terrain Clem Clement was the first Penarth runner to cross the finish line in 78th overall and 4th in his age category on 1.29.22. Considering it was such a hilly and tough course it was impressive that he sneaked in under 1 hour 30 minutes.

Lisa Cleary was the first woman from Penarth to cross the finish line in 321nd in 1.41.36.

She was followed by Helen Griffiths, who is set to run both the Paris and London marathons this year, in 1.43.31.

Helen was the 52nd lady to finish, narrowly missing out of a 'top 50' t-shirt.

Josh Davies was next up in 502nd in1.47.29, followed by his partner Danielle Rayner in 947th in 1.58.53.

Yvonne Williams was next in 1030 in 2.01.27 as she scooped 3rd in her age category,.
