WITH the Sully Cricket Club 1st XI game at Tondu on Sunday cancelled due to rain, the side decided to challenge the 2nd XI to an impromptu indoor encounter at Cardiff's Swalec Stadium.

Opening with Morgan and Krishna, the 1st XI steadily reached 40 before the former was superbly run out by Manesh off the tight bowling of Crick. Trinash joined Krishna and, with the score on 100, the latter retired on 42. Trinash reached 30 before Satish hit the last bowl of the innings for four and the total reached 109.

In reply, run outs dominated the first few overs, and Morgan then took two for nine, including the dangerous Salem (21).

With the Seconds at 42 for five, the game looked over but newbie James Fullard (24 no) had different ideas and, ably supported by Crick, pushed the score to 97.

In the end, it proved a good work out, with several second teamers pushing for 1st XI duty.

This Sunday the Sully 1st XI entertain Xenon Whitchurch.
