LAST weekend players, supporters and friends of Dinas Powys Cricket Club got together on The Common for the fourth annual “Cricket Force” weekend.

As usual, those present were tasked with preparing the Common facilities for another busy year of activity for the club’s various league, friendly and junior fixtures. In addition to the various mowing and making good, a new section of fencing was added to the boundary edge.

Theresa Lloyd fed and watered the troops on Saturday, and Ruth Clogg got in a little 'net practice,' providing the buffet and drinks on Sunday in anticipation of her tea-making duties in the summer.

The winter storms and wet weekends this early spring meant facilities had taken rather a battering, but, as in previous years, the Common cricket square, outfield and surrounds were gently transformed. Thanks again to paint sponsors Paint4Less and to all those who found time to support.

The club play league and social cricket across Saturdays and Sundays, and limited overs midweek, and welcomes new members.

The club has achieved ECB Clubmark Accreditation status – partially as an acknowledgement of its organisation and support of junior cricket.
