BOWLS season opened at Romilly Bowls Club on Saturday with both club side and ‘A’ team having games against Barry Athletic and The Murch respectively. The club side played the Athletic in a friendly at the Island which was played in good spirit and with the forecast rain holding off, a close game was won by Romilly by 3 shots 62 – 59.

This match gave the opportunity for both sides to loosen their arms in readiness for this coming Saturdays opening games in the Carruthers Shield.

Romilly ‘A’ team were involved in a more serious fixture facing the Murch at Romilly Park in a SVLA match. The game was won by the Murch 58 – 72 but the Murch thinking the game was a friendly played a number of first team players giving them the an overall advantage winning on three of the four rinks.

This Saturday Romilly Club Side entertain Kenfig Hill in the Carruthers Shield at The Park 2.30pm and the ‘A’ Team Travel to Llantwit Major for another SVLA match.
