PENARTH RFC U14s 29pts

OLD RUTLITHIANS U14s 17

THE PenarthRugby Club U14s completed their season on a winning note against Surrey tourists Old Rutlithians.

Playing on the synthetic pitch at Cardiff Arms Park for the second time this season, the Penarth team always held the upper hand against spirited opponents.

With a number of youngsters playing out of position, Penarth were first to score through Jack Twinkle who ran hard at a gap in the defensive line. This was followed by a power surge by Tom J who burst through four attempted tackles after some great groundwork by Niall and Ellis. Gruff converted to make it 12-0.

Old Rs hit back before half-time with a try from their speedy right wing.

In the second half, Twinkle and Tom J completed their brace of tries after taking advantage of some poor tackling, and some good passing under pressure by Gruff, Morgan and Henry C.

Morgan then exploited a gap in the line, dummied and sprinted 25 metres to score under the posts and Gruff converted.

Old Rs finished the match strongly with two tries, one from the outside centre who, after losing his boot in a tackle, ran in from 60 metres to score a converted try under the posts.

"Dame of the Game" went to Tomo for his relentless leadership in the centre.

Penarth ended the season very well, and the great team spirit and improvement throughout the year bodes well for next season and the challenge of U15s rugby.

Thanks are extended to all players, parents, coaches and family supporters who have contributed to such an enjoyable and successful season.
