BOUNCING back from last week's defeats for the 2nd and 3rd XIs, Penarth Cricket Club chalked up two victories on a windswept weekend.

The Firsts hosted Tondu and, asked to bat first, scored 194 for six in a game restricted to 39 overs. Tom Sidford (55) and Ryan Sylvester (39) put on 79 for the first wicket and were ably supported by Will Barker(28) and Nick Morgan(37). For Tondu, Jon Bussey took two for 47 and Julian Hardwick (2-36).

In reply, Tondu struggled to 115 for eight, with Richard Ready (31) top scoring. For Penarth, Sidford took four for 21 from eight overs and Ryan Sylvester (2-15) also from eight.

Young Morgan Crimp took the eighth wicket to give Penarth maximum points(20) and league top spot.

Playing away at Lisvane, the Seconds had a much tougher game, winning in the last over by three runs.

Penarth scored 139 for nine, with James Erasmus (55) and Carson (20).

In reply, Lisvane reached 132 for eight, with James Hitchin claiming three for 37, Pete Ingram (2-15) and Ryan Todd (2-28). Bowling the last over, Graveson (1-37) conceded just one run to give Penarth the victory.

Due to the weather, both 3rd and 4th XI games were cancelled.

The club is grateful for the continued support of their sponsors - Cigg-e, The Jaflon Restaurant and J W Bassett public houses.
