WITH the Penarth Darts League season drawing to a close, a number of this week's games, following postponed fixtures, were for double points.

At the RAFA Club, the A side welcomed second-placed Golden Lion who took all the early points through Steve x10 and x20, Paul 100 x20 and Nathan 100 x1, 100 105. High scores came from Ian 100 140, who went on to take RAFA's first points on x2. Paddy also took a singles win for RAFA with x14. The Lion took two points through Rob 100 x4 and Nathan 100 whose 84 out shot on the bull made up for an earlier missed bull when going for a 130 out. The team leg was, of course, crucial, with six points up for grabs, and, although the the visitors took an early lead, they were pegged back. With RAFA having an opportunity to win, Ian stepped up and hit x17 to take the six points. The final score was 12-10 to the Lion.

Home side Llandough Legion welcomed the Coronation Club, with the pairs shared. Coro took the first, with Dai 100 x8, x7, and Legion responded to win the next 2-1, with Dave 100 x4, 100, 140 and partner Martin x4. Owain took the Coro’s point with x10. Legion took the first singles, with Dave x20, but the remaining singles went to the Coro - Wayne x10, Dai 140 x1 and Owain x16. The team leg was again worth six points and, although Dave hit a ton for the Legion, the points went the way of the Coro, with Roger hitting 101 and x20. The final score was 18-6 to the Coro.

Ex’s Sparrows were home to RAFA B and, although the hosts are flying high at the top of the table, the visitors clipped their wings with a fine 8-5 win. Both pairs went 2-1 to the RAFA, with Dave 140 x20 and Nathan x20. Paul hit x20 in reply for the Ex’s. In the second pairs, Anthony hit 100, 100, x10, with partner Gary scoring 100 x20. Paul hit x20 in reply for the Ex’s. All four singles went to the RAFA through Nathan x1, Anthony 140 140 x8, Gary 100 100 100 x16 and Dave 140 x10. In the team game, Ex's escaped a crushing defeat when taking three points thanks to John x10.

Hosts Station were involved in a close struggle with Cross Keys, with the latter winning the team leg for an 8-5 success. The pairs were shared, with Keys taking the first through Jeff 140 140 and Peter x10, x9. Russ took the point for the Station with 125 x16. Station took the second pairs, with Maurice 118, 105 x8 and son Paul 125 x3. Kevin 100 and Peter x12 won a point for the Keys, who took the first two singles through Peter x8 and Tony 140 x5. Winners for the Station were Russ x8 and Mitch, who, following last week's singles competition, continued his fine form with 100 121 100 140 x1. With the game all square going into the team leg, Paul hit 116 and Russ 100 for the Station, but the visitors took the win with Kevin 100 and Peter x11.

This week's games are: Coro v Station; Keys v RAFA A; Lion v Ex’s; RAFA B v Legion.

The end of season finals will be played upstairs at the Ex’s Club on Friday, July 4, with players asked to be on time for the draw (8-8.15pm) and a prompt start.
