DANGEROUS duo Daniel Ingram and Harry Davies, both aged eight, stepped up to the mark at late notice to produce an impressive first appearance for Penarth Cricket Club U11s against Cowbridge.
With Penarth batting first, captain Greg Cross and partner Devon Malcolm really got the board moving with some good hitting. The experienced Lewis Ingram and Benji Mulcaly continued to impress with some attractive stroke making to accumulate 30 runs, while newcomers Dan and Harry raised their game to tremendous applause from a sizeable crowd with solid hits and kamikaze running.
Megan and Will Skone batted well together, hitting a range of fours, and the last pair of Steffen and Zac really blitzed a tiring Cowbridge team, with many forceful drives for a sizeable total.
Penarth defended their total well with good pace and spin bowling from all players, with the performance topped off by a wicket each for Dan and Harry - the latter with the first ball he bowled.
