FOR the second successive year Penarth Windsor Lawn Tennis Club has hosted a highly successful Masterclass event.

Last year the club enjoyed coaching sessions from former Wimbledon and Davis Cup competitors who put on a top-notch showcase. Although it seemed like it would be a once in a lifetime experience, Windsor ladies’ captain Liz James was able to orchestrate a reprise and last weekend a similar event eclipsed that of 2013.

Putting 56 players through their paces and sharing stories of their experiences at SW19 and on the national stage, tennis professionals Danny Sapsford and James Auckland kept the courts buzzing for five hours.

A first exhibition match saw the pros partnered by Niamh Sweeney and Jack Ritchie and delighting the crowds with some fun and jovial tennis, and they then teamed up with Peter Bellingham and Peter Owen for a hard fought set before attentions turned towards a barbecue, cake and Pimms.
