SULLY Cricket Club play in the final of the full toss midweek league cup tonight (Thurs) and all 3 coaches are now fully booked.

The club will be looking to make up for losing in last season’s final on the very last ball of the game.

Then on Saturday the first team play St. Fagans in a top of the table clash, whilst the 2nd team face Panteg in a must win promotion game.

Sunday sees the friendly team travel to Porth after the home game was cancelled due to the weather.

The midweek league team played the Medics in a low scoring game with the Spartans batsmen blowing the chance of a comfortable win, inexcusably scoring only 6 runs off the last 2 overs and losing by 4 runs.

Bowling first loran and Rollnick kept the opening batsmen in check as did Sathish and Koti taking a wicket a piece. Sam also bowled economically, but the pick of the bowlers was Morgan with 3 for 16, coupled with a few runouts the Medics could only manage 102 and on a fast outfield with small boundaries the total should not have caused any concern.

Sully opening batsmen could not get into their stride and this seemed to send panic signals through the middle order only calmed by Brennan (16 not out) and R.Howe (20) but this would not be enough as 3 runouts saw the Spartans collapse to 98 for 7 and defeat by 4 runs, but fair play to the medics they fielded as if their lives depended on it.

Medics 102 for 7

Morgan 3 for 16

Sully C.C 98 for 7

Howe 20

Brennan 16 not out

Sully cricket club travelled the short distance to play Barry Wanderers on Sunday and came away with a 9 wicket victory.

Winning the toss Skipper Rod Howe elected to field and it proved to be the right decision as Inan Khan took his first 5 wicket haul for the Spartans.

Ably supported by Sathish with two wickets Matt Bullock and Andrew Davies with one apiece the Wanderers were all out for 175.

In reply Sully went off like a train with Mike Howe and Trinash rapidly hitting the 50 partnership before trinash went for 33.Abdul then joined Howe and together they chased down the total with Mike Howe hitting a superb 91 not out including several sixes and Abdul also not out on 36.

Barry Wanderers 175 all out

Sully C.C 176 for1
