WITH Pontypridd defaulting against the clubs1st team it was down to the 2nds to finish their season with an emphatic 9 wicket victory against Pontllanfraith.

Winning the toss skipper Nigel Crick elected to put the visitors into bat and on a damp turning wicket it would prove to be a good call.(Thanks to Paul the groundsman and the Vale parks dept for getting the square playable after all the overnight rain.)

Opening the bowling D. Turnham bowled his best spell of the season (5 overs 1 for 11) and the ever reliable I. Khan produced another excellent spell of medium pace (10 overs 1 for 16).

Pontllanfraith batsmen then started to make a fight of it, but E. Rees (5 overs 3 for 17) and D. Morgan (10 overs 3 maidens 4 for 15) ensured the comeback was short lived and the opposition were all out for 82.

In Reply openers Vijay (22) and Trinash put on 50 before Vijay was well caught on the boundary. Krishna (13 not out) joined Trinash (26 not out) and together they added the 33 runs with little trouble and victory was the Spartans by 9 wickets.
