NIGEL Short has stepped down as chairman of Regional Rugby Wales with Scarlets colleague Robin Cammish taking over at the helm while Mark Davies has been confirmed as chief executive.

Short was a key figure in the discussions between RRW, the body that represents Newport Gwent Dragons, the Scarlets, Cardiff Blues and the Ospreys, and the Welsh Rugby Union over a fresh Rugby Services Agreement.

He has stepped aside now that a six-year deal has been signed so that he can concentrate on his role as chairman of the Scarlets.

Yorkshireman Cammish, a director and vice chairman at the Llanelli region, takes over while Davies has been confirmed as RRW’s chief executive after doing the job for 12 months on an interim basis. He will stand down as the Scarlets’ chief executive.

Alan Whiteley, previously chief executive at Cardiff City, has been appointed as a RRW independent director.
