TWO grand events brought the 2014 outdoor season to an end at Windsor Bowling Club, Robinswood Crescent, Penarth.

The President, Alun Daniel and Captain, Paul Gunter were able to call on 96 players to fill the club’s two greens in the annual President’s versus the Captain’s challenge match.

The final score saw Captain Paul victorious and following a superb ‘Windsor buffet’, and the bar till in constant use, effusive thanks membership, brought a magnificent club day to an end.

The following Tuesday saw the ‘gentlemen’ players’ dinner, organised by Captain Paul and provided by the Seashore Grill of Sully, take place.

The quite wondrous team spirit and camaraderie, which Paul has engendered over the past two seasons, was much in evidence and both Rodney Hudson and Eddie Thorne brought applause in their speeches when giving thanks.

The writer would also like to pay tribute and offer his very sincere thanks to all the club members, both male and female, for their understanding and patience throughout the season when reading the accounts and activities of the Windsor bowling club, both fiction and fact.

Finally, on behalf of the club, many thanks to the Penarth Times for its first class coverage throughout the season.

The club AGM takes place on Thursday, November 27 at 7.30pm and the Christmas Dinner on Friday, December 12, again at 7.30pm.
