THE new season for Cogan u14s has seen a few changes in personnel, striker Sam Green has departed to try his luck with Bristol Rovers and incoming are local boys Logan Newcombe and Tino Tabi.

John Page has joined the management team alongside Lee Williams bringing experience and UEFA coaching.

Some things have not changed however, and that's the opening results and performances by last year’s Champions.

Cogan began the campaign with a midweek disposal of Dinas Powys 7-0, followed by a convincing 5-0 defeat of Sully.

FC Pumas were next as Cogan dominated from start to finish in a 16-0 rout, while Cogan saved their best performance to date for the home 8-1 demolition of Barry Town.

Last week Cogan moved safely through to the second round of the cup after defeating Holton Road 12-1.

This week Cogan made the journey to Corntown to face Cowbridge A in a league encounter.

Within the opening minute Tino Tabi opened the scoring with a well taken goal.

Cameron Gauchi was unplayable down the left flank and provided cross after cross and was only a matter of time before someone got on the end of them.

It wasn't long before Luke Warlow headed home and Cian McCarthy slotted in from Gauci deliveries.

Aron Arthur beat the offside trap to coolly finish past the over worked keeper for a well deserved goal to make it four.

Within minutes Warlow wrapped up his hattrick with two identical goals again from delightful assists from Gauci.

On the stroke of halftime Louis Crook thumped home a header from a corner to bring proceedings to 7-0 at half time.

The second half was a scrappier affair as Cogan began to lose shape and discipline as players sacrificed team play for individual gain.

Cole Roberts scored with a looping header from another corner, Luke Warlow grabbed two more and Tino Tabi who started it all closed the scoring with number 11.

Credit must go to the Cowbridge keeper who did himself proud making several outstanding saves throughout.

Special mentions must go to the skipper Cam Gauci who had a hand in no less than eight of the goals, typifying his unselfish play and Louis Crook who marshalled the back line and dominated when his midfield went missing chasing goals.

Luke Birnage in goal managed to come off the pitch with his new bright pink goal keeper’s jersey intact with thanks going to Mint and Mustard Indian restaurant and Camilleri roofing for generously providing the new kit as this seasons sponsors.
