TO put the icing on the outdoor season and as a precursor to the winter, indoor season, a party of 43 members of the Windsor Bowls Club of Penarth took to the sunny climes of Mojacar for a bowls’ club tour.

Exciting and enjoyable matches took place against Indalo, Mojacar, Almeria and Cabrera Bowls’ Clubs on both grass and synthetic greens.

The results of these games and the shots won and lost by Windsor are best consigned to the history books and will not be made public until 2050, so as not to cause embarrassment to the Windsor bowlers. Suffice to say, all games ended in ignominious defeat.

Relaxing trips were made to Cartegena, Mojacar and Garrucha market, where huge numbers of Euros were spent, as the ladies bought next summer’s leisure wear.

The club’s president was fulsome in his praise of the tremendous amount of work and indeed the organisational skills of ladies’ captain Veronica Flitney and Mrs Kay Dyer in undertaking the tour and the general opinion of all that something similar could be arranged for 2015.

Space does not allow for the printing of all 43 tourists, or of any male or female member who may have distinguished themselves in any, as was the case in the annual president’s versus captains’ match, where some 100 members, social members and friends, all played their parts in making yet another Windsor Bowls Club success story. Long may it continue that the club is great than any one or more individual.
