PENARTH Swimming club is finally moving back to its usual home at Cogan Leisure Centre following a prolonged period of disruption as a result of the fire which left the club operating a scaled down schedule at Cardiff International Pool.
As of November 3 the club will be running sessions at Cogan Leisure Centre as follows:
Mondays:
Juniors (age 4-11) 7pm - 7:30pm
Juniors (age 4-11) 7:30pm - 8pm
Seniors (age 11-18) 8pm – 9pm
Fridays:
Juniors (age 4-11) 7:30pm - 8pm
Seniors (age 11-18) 8pm – 9pm
The club would like to welcome back swimmers old and new and is offering free taster sessions on Mondays for anyone who'd like to come along and find out more.
As well as welcoming back swimmers of all abilities up to the age of 18, the club is also asking for volunteers who would be willing to help poolside and anyone interested in undertaking a coaching qualification to help out. The club is entirely run by volunteers and is appealing to the Penarth community to help it to continue to be a success.
A clubs spokesman said "Penarth Swimming and Water Polo Club is one of Wales' oldest swimming clubs and we look forward to having all our young swimmers back in Cogan as well as welcoming new members. We'd like to thank everyone for bearing with us during the disruption of the last year and we are really looking forward to reinvigorating the club and getting the support from the local community which we have had in the past".
Anyone interested in becoming a member or helping out, poolside or behind the scenes can come along to Cogan Leisure Centre on Monday, November 3 at 7pm where club representatives will be available to answer any queries.
