DINAS Powys FC played Chepstow Town on Saturday, November 15, with Chepstow winning 4-2.

The match ball was kindly sponsored by Lyndon Scaffolding PLC.

This was the proverbial game of two halves with Chepstow totally dominating the first half and looked to have got the game sewn up with a 3-0 advantage after 20 minutes.

Chepstow went straight on the attack from the first whistle and an early chance came for Rico Zulkarman which he screwed wide of the post.

The impressive looking Louis Feeley then forced two successive corners which the Dinas defence managed to clear. Dinas keeper Jack Perks was then forced into making a good save from Lee Ross.

Dinas were trying to get themselves into the game and Atif Bashir fed Keiron James out wide, he put in a good cross which was just too high for Carlos Indjai and the ball ran out for a throw-in.

Chepstow were soon on the score sheet however, a free kick by Feeley found the head of Ashley Palmer at the far post to head home powerfully with 10 minutes gone. Just two minutes later they doubled their advantage when a cross from Feeley was bundled home at close range by Ross for 2-0 with Dinas not in the game at this stage.

Gradually the home side began to get some possession, Bashir and Indjai combining to force a corner taken by Nicky Bruce but the Chepstow defence managed to clear their lines.

At the other end Perks had to be alert when that man Feeley played Mark Dunn in but Perks rushed off his line to grab the ball.

Dinas did manage to force two more corners, Sam Johnson doing well down the left but they were both unproductive and with just 20 minutes gone Chepstow added a third goal, a cross from the right was headed home by Johnson with the Dinas defence not tight enough. The visitors continued to dominate play and almost made it 4-0 when Feeley dispossessed Luke Swaffield but his shot just scraped past the wrong side of the Dinas upright.

Two Chepstow corners were cleared and after some determined play by Johnson and Ben Ah-Mun James was put through on goal but his shot was off target when he should really have at least hit the target and Dinas were glad to get in at half-time to sort things out.

Dinas came out in much more determined mood with a change in formation and personnel seeming to do the trick, Ryan Garland replacing Indjai and King Junior Mwedzo coming on for Johnson. They began to dominate play forcing an early corner and pressing the visitors back in their own half. A free kick by Garland was floated into the six yard box but no-one could get on the end of it. Then Bashir picked up the ball in midfield and hit a thunderbolt of a shot from the edge of the box which was just over the bar, and Bashir then played Ah-Mun in, he hit a good shot which was too far out to trouble Wesson in the Chepstow goal who took it comfortably.

Dinas then made their final substitution, Jasper Morgan replacing Nicky Bruce with 22 minutes of the half gone and just three minutes later they pulled one back, Garland feeding Ah-Mun who tucked the ball home from 12 yards for 3-1.

It was Chepstow's turn to hang on and an excellent corner from Garland reached Swaffield at the far post to slam it home for 3-2 with just six minutes remaining. Dinas began to think they could get something from the game after all and right on time a square ball reached Garland who hit a curling shot just over the bar. Deep in injury time and against the run of play Chepstow substitute Craig Lewis found himself one on one with Perks and he made no mistake to make the final score a somewhat flattering 4-2 to Chepstow.

Dinas squad: 1 Jack Perks, 2 Luke Swaffield (1), 3 Nicky Bruce, 4 James Marr, 5 James Bloxham (c), 6 Steve Provis, 7 Carlos Indjai, 8 Atif Bashir, 9 Sam Johnson, 10 Ben Ah-Mun (1), 11 Keiron James, 12 King Junior Mwedzo, 14 Ryan Garland, 15 Jasper Morgan.
