TYNEWYDD FC 2-0 Sully

Men’s Division One

Tynewydd made it back to back wins for the first time since the opening two games of this season with a deserved 2-0 over a well placed Sully team.

On a heavy, uneven pitch both teams struggled to play any football of real note for large stretches of the 90 minutes with Tynny’s opener midway through the first half the only really decent move of the game.

It came from a well worked counter attack with captain Lewis Union driving from the edge of his box into the opposition half who laid the ball to the left wing to Ross Smith who drove to the byline before delivering a pinpoint cross low across the box to find Julina Brana who'd made a good 50 yard run to get on the end of the move.

Brana calmly side footed home from 10 yards out; from box to box to goal in five seconds. Tynny doubled their advantage 10 minutes later when a scramble in the Sully box allowed Ross Smith to prod home from close range.

Smith making his return from injury was a boost for the team who'd missed his energy up top and more importantly his goals.

The second half produced very little with Tynny keeping Sully at arm’s length and the back four stopping all attacks bar a quick snap shot from the edge of the box that was acrobatically saved by Callum Coleman; who tipped it over the box to insure Tynny kept their first clean sheet of the season.

This should hopefully be a good boost for the upcoming festive period. Man of the Match went again for the second week running to Andrew Colburn, whose nonstop competitive play typified Tynny’s play for the game.

It was also good to see coach Paul Union back on the sideline after his recent neck worries. "No shots for you this weekend on the annual "Christmas Do" Coach, I'm telling you!"
