THE Penarth Bridge Club played the Club Championship (Round 1) on Friday, January 16 and at the end of the evening Jean Akers and Vivien Liles were declared the Penarth Bridge Club Handicap Champions.
Joan Andrews and Audrey Hall took second handicap place and Eric Favager and Mike Downey were third.
Five other qualifiers will join the three pairs mentioned above, to battle for the Club Pairs Championship on Friday, January 23.
At the “Bring a Friend Night” on January 9, Raggei Smith and Val Baker won the social event that was enjoyed by all taking part.

The next big events at the Club after the Club Pairs Championship on January 23, will be Simultaneous Pairs on both evenings Tuesday 27 and Friday 30 in aid of an Ebola Charity. This event is open to all Bridge players.
