AFTER last weekend’s San Domenico 20 miler Penarth runners returned to race in Merthyr Tydfil on Sunday.
The Merthyr Half Marathon took in much of the same route along the Taff Trail, including the dreaded steps under the underpass and several challenging hills.
The day started off cold and overcast, but brightened up as the race went on.
For many it was ideal for spring marathon training, as they look forward to tackling the full 26.2miles in London next month.
Chris Nellins was the first Penarth runner to cross the finish line in 1.36.44.
Lisa Cleary achieved 1.38.48.
Steve Goodfellow finished in 1.45.55.
Josh Davies 1.48.42.
Lindsey Hunt 1.54.41.
Yvonne Williams 1.58.04.
Danielle Rayner 1.58.50.
Kay Nellins notched up an impressive PB to finish in 2.03.06.
Andrea Goodfellow 2.03.22.
This weekend is set to be another busy few days of racing for Penarth and Dinas Runners.
They are set to take part in the Ponty Reverse 10 Miler, which will serve as a club championship race, as well as the Llanelli 20 miler. Several brave souls are also contemplating running the Ponty Reverse 10 twice to help rack up the mileage for marathon training.
The running club meet every Monday evening at Penarth Leisure Centre at 7pm. Anyone is welcome to try them out for a few sessions.
