Dinas Powys Wolves-U12s 5

IMFC Blues 3

DINAS started the game half asleep but this is very common to the followers of the Wolves.

Within the opening 10 minutes the home side were trailing 2-0, as the visitors came out on fire. They certainly never panic and following going two down the response was brilliant as young striker Cole Saunders latched onto a through ball and rounded the ‘keeper to pull one back within seconds of the restart.

Dinas started to play and with a few adjustments made to the formation they limited the visitors’ chances. As the game went on the villagers just grew in confidence.

Saunders soon drew them level and two more goals from the on-fire striker put the home side 4-2 up at the break as the home side looked to thread balls through to Saunders and Hewiston.

The home side's defence was led by Jake Frost who tackled and headed everything, showing how good a centre back he is, Zac Fifield covered the back three sweeping up and starting the attacks from the back. Connor O'Brien, Tylor Williams and Robson Mallum secured things up as they gave a strong platform for the midfield to work off.

As the second half went on, Bayley Harewood and Joe Doughty just got stronger winning countless second ball and playing some neat one touch football around the edge of the box as they tried to open up the visitors. Their energy and fitness in the middle of the park is rarely seen at this level and with the ability they both have is scary.

Kyle Booker and Kiean Quest had plenty of joy wide as they beat their fullbacks to create chances for the strikers.

Utility player Jacob Pereira did very little wrong as he slotted in midfield and defence with players missing showing his worth to the team.

The fifth goal was a piece of magic as Cole flicked the ball over the full backs head and struck a half volley into the bottom corner putting the game to bed.

The work rate from Callum Hewitson can't go unnoticed as Hewitson and Saunders have been a great partnership feeding off each other all season. Both making countless runs dragging defences from pillar to post, if one doesn’t score the other will.

Kiean Quest showed his strength and left foot throughout the game and was unlucky not to score late on. Booker thought he had scored as the ball whistle passed the upright.

Dylan Morris in goal had little to do in the second period but was always on hand to narrow the angles and force a few shots wide.

The game wasn't a classic as both teams did not allow either side time on the ball.

In the final few minutes Joe Doughty was adjusted to hand ball in the box giving IMFC a penalty, final score Dinas five, IMFC three.
