ON A day where thankfully the weather held fair for most competitors, Dinas Powis Golf Club held the annual Oscar Powell Foursomes competition.

The format consisted of pairs who took the best drive and then hit alternative shots was won by Graham Pratt and John O'Neil with a net 61, they were closely followed by the dream team of Ian Eidman and Simon Berni who recorded a commendable net 63.

Third place was awarded to Jimmy Hill and Lenny Lane with a net 63 (lost on countback).

Recently the club's Jackdaw open took place and as always was well attended by club members and other clubs around the Cardiff and Vale area. Jackdaw stalwart Steve Stavros Lloyd instigated a day of fun and competition with team and individual prizes on offer.

The team winners were Nick Osbourne, Dave 'Its never over till its over' Hicks, Paul Spencer and Stevie Yates with 125 points.

Runners-up were Roger Davies, Ian Barclay, Mike Constantinos and Alan Humphries with 123 points.

Perennial Jackdaw Terry Kidd was the individual winner with 41points from the Dinas Club.

T Morley was the winner overall with 42 points.

Matthew Hadley was another winner with a respectable 36points. He appropriately won a shoe bag which is rumoured to have been handed back and replaced with a cricket bag to hold his size 12 boots.

This weekend the Group Captain Bailey competition takes place followed on Sunday by the Charity Day which is organised by club president Derry Moore.
