LOSING the toss in a 12-a-side friendly against Porth, the only way the players of Sully Spartans Cricket Club could keep warm was to chase every ball and with the background of Llandaff Cathedral in their sight that's what they did - with three jumpers on.
With Vishal B three for nine, Dipesh three for 10, Sathish two for 21 and Morgan two for 21 the Spartans took control of the game and without some poor catching the total of 180 would have been in single figures, Morgan with two excellent catches.
In response skipper Sathish mixed the batting order to give everyone a game and it paid dividends.
Vishal G 51 not out, and Sudesh 38 - with a superb partnership of 90 - and Morgan 19 pushed the score to within the winning distance before Trinath 10 not out and Sathish pushed the Spartans past the post winning by five wickets.
Porth 180 all out
Vishal three for nine
Dipesh three for 10
Sully Cricket Club 180 for five
Vishal G 51 retired
Sudesh 38
