THE ladies and gentlemen of the Windsor Bowling Club, Penarth, held their open day for the 2016 season in glorious but cold weather.

With the indoor season completed, the bowlers will now put their skills towards a full diary of matches against other clubs that will take them through to September with both the ladies and gentlemen sections also playing host to touring sides from Devon, Barnwood and Bridgewater.

The clubhouse was as usual packed with old and most welcomed new members, with the ladies captain Chris Gunter and the men's captain Roger Flitney bowling the traditional first woods on Windsor's immaculate greens.

The day concluded with the Windsor buffet.

The pre-season Easter Fair was a huge success, as was the ladies pre-season lunch where they were well served by the male members.

Any budding bowlers of any standard will always be given a warm welcome to the club, were they have a number of club coaches who will be only to happy to help you improve your game.

The club also holds an open day on July 3. They will be pleased to see you then.

Finally let's hope for a wonderful season of bowls at Windsor and all other local bowls clubs.
