COGAN'S Mini and Junior football section has grown rapidly over the last couple of years and success on the pitch for Cogan has led to County honours for some of their players.
Cam and Luke Starling in the under-10s and Austin Drew and Haydn Craven in the under-9s received their players' medals and Luke Burnage, under-15s won goalkeeper of the year last Thursday night at the annual presentation evening held at Mary Immaculate High School in Wenvoe.
The Cardiff and Vale County Schools' Football hold a rigorous three trial system each year for new players nominated by their school. The new nominees must progress through all the trials and then compete with the previous year's players to gain a converted place in the squad.
Successful candidates then play against other county school's teams.
The chairman of Cogan's Mini and Junior section, Wes Drew, himself an ex-county player, said: "It is a great honour for the boys to play for their county and testament to the strength Cogan has within the club."
