SULLY Centurions Cricket Club visited Ponthir and after winning the toss, captain Santosh Singh opted to insert the opposition.

Spinetti (53) and Price (40) shared a century opening stand, before Price was trapped LBW by Rajkumar - the first of three wickets for the bowler. However, Ponthir continued to rack up the runs, finally ending on 238 for six after the 50 overs.

In reply, Centurions lost a host of early wickets - being reduced to 68 for six, before Tom Davies and Ali Raza put on 48 for the seventh wicket. However, the last three wickets went down for just 17 runs, with the final score being 133 all out.

The 2nd XI hosted Ponthir 2nds on a beautiful sunny afternoon at Burnham Avenue and lost by eight wickets. Batting first, Centurions lost some early wickets and were 25 for three in the 12th over when Josh Bryan (27) and Adam Gilliatt (17) came together and put on 45 for the fourth wicket.

However, Tom Jarvis wrapped up the Sully tail with a fine display of bowling, ending with five wickets for just 19 runs, as Centurions ended on 105 all out.

After tea the opening pair of Simms and Ryan put on 60 for the first wicket. Young Aaron Emyr, with two for 19, was the only Centurion to take a wicket and, with Simms ending on 65 not out, the target was reached in the 26th over for the loss of just those two wickets.

Although a loss, it was good to see the mostly young team compete and it was also heartening to see the return of Lloyd Bruce for Centurions after his pre-season accident. Hopefully he will be back in 1st XI action soon.
