WITH Sully Cricket Club's 2nd teams game called off it was down to the 1st X1 to continue the club's recent good form.

Hopkinstown were the visitors to Sully and after winning the toss skipper Morgan elected to bowl first.

The wicket was still damp and with little bounce Morgan was able to produce figures of nine overs two maidens four for 29, and he was ably assisted by S Perla, six overs three for 32, which meant Hopkinstown were in trouble.

The middle order though rallied and pushed the score along until Jacob P, two for 31 and B Richardson, one for 28, restricted the away side to 143, a target which would need a lot of application to achieve.

The Spartans started badly with little composure from the opening batsmen.

At 64 for five, Hopkinstown were thinking that they were in with a shout, but Krishna T (24) and Santosh steadied the ship with a partnership of 63 until Krishna was out lbw and the Spartans were 127 for six.

Santosh carried on the good work ending up 34 not out and Sully had won by four wickets against a very accomplished side.

Hopkinstown 143 all out

Morgan 4 for 29

Sathish 3 for 32

Sully Cricket Club 144 for 6

Santosh 34 not out

Krishna T 24

The mid-week team remained top of the Cardiff FTL with a comprehensive 48 run victory against Celtic Hawks.

I Khan 30 not out and D Pons 25 not out were the pick of the batsmen.

Davies two for 15 and Vishal SP two for 18 were the highlighted bowlers.
