GYMNASTS from across Wales competed at the Special Olympics Wales regional artistic gymnastics competition, held at Penarth Gymnastics Club in Barry.

The competition started with the boys followed by the girls and both groups produced a wonderful display of what can be achieved with hard work and dedication.

Level B was won by Alysha Martin Smith and in second place Daisy Darley both from Haverfordwest Gymnastics Club.

Level two girls was won by Gemma Bowie Hallam from Pembrokeshire Special Needs GC

Level three girls with a high quality display of their work was won by Adele Bevan with club mate Lydia James coming second, both gymnasts are from Pembrokeshire SNGC.

Boys level one was won by Leon Davies from PSNGC, second Jake Morgan from Haverfordwest and third Joshua Critten PSNGC.

Division one men places were taken by the gymnasts from Penarth Gymnastics Club. In first place David Melly whose work has been improving all year. David has this year won the Welsh Gymnastics and Special Olympics Wales titles for his level followed by Daffyd Williams in second place.

Men's division two was won by Gareth Lloyd followed closely by James Savory and third place Kiaran Parson. These three men have been at the top of disability gymnastics for many years now and are continuously changing positions.

Jeff Savory, chair of Special Olympics Wales, stated the work these gymnasts produce week after week is a credit to themselves and to Penarth Gymnastics Club and their disability section overseen by Gwynedd Lingard MBE for the work that the dedicated volunteer coaching staff do.

Special Olympics Wales would like to thank Penarth Gymnastics Club for allowing them to use the facility which is on Ty Verlon Est Barry and all judges and volunteers that helped the competition run smoothly.
