PENDRAGONS netball team from Penarth have had a successful season in the Cardiff and District Netball league with the A team finishing a respectable fourth in division six after being promoted last season.

After more members have signed up, the formation of a B team has resulted in a second team being accepted into division seven. The two teams will play alongside each other in different divisions this winter league.

This is a great achievement for a small club that was initially set up to offer fun and fitness.

The PenDragons also ran a successful fundraiser towards the end of 2015 with a large donation being made to Ty Hafan. A quiz night with hot food and a raffle was held at the Old Penarthians rugby club and was well attended. The team hope to run another fundraiser in September with the ongoing support of the Old Pens to help raise money for the club and charity.

The team will commence their training sessions on August 16 at Stanwell School and will continue to train there on Tuesday evenings. They always welcome new recruits of any age or ability and your first session is free.

Mali Chapman from the B team joined in January and was soon a solid member of the team.

She says: "I have been telling people how much I love netball and the girls are such a great group to train with".
