THIS week the first games of the 2016-17 were played in the Penarth Darts League.

Unfortunately the Golden Lion A side had to cancel their first match but there was plenty of excitement in the other two matches that were played.

At the Coronation Club the home side put up a valiant fight but went down by three points to 10 against the Three Horse Shoes from Dinas Powys. Rhys Winford started the ball rolling for the Shoes with x20 in the first pairs followed by Tony Deacon also for the Shoes on x1.

Shoes won all the singles through Rhys Winford 100 x10, 100 100 x10, Alex Vowles 139 x1, x9, Tony Deacon x2, x2 and Ashley Deacon x13, x16. Coro took their three points in the four-a-side with Nathan hitting x9.

Coro’s high scorers were Les 140, Dai 100 and Ian 100.

At the Ex’s Club the home side Ex’s A took on the Ex’s B. Although the games were much closer than the final result reflects the Ex’s A team ran away with a 12 - 3 win.

Ex’s A won both pairs with John 100 x20, and Paul 135 x1 supported by Jack with 140. Kevin hit 140 and Paul 100 for the Ex’s B.

Ex’s A took three singles through Paul 137 x1, 140 x2 and Kevin hit 140 x16 for the B side. Ian took the only singles win for the B team with 115 x8 140 x4 and Steve hit 100, 100 100, 100 x2 for the A side. John was the next of the A sides winners with a maximum 180 in a 17 dart leg finishing on x16 and 100 x2.

Captain Jack had a good singles game scoring 122 100x18 and 100 100 100 x20 with Dave hitting 100 in reply for the B side. The team leg also went the way of the A side when John hit x4 to seal the win.
