AFTER a two week break, the Vale of Glamorgan Football League returned with a fine weekend of football.

The big story of the day was in division two as leaders Cadoxton Imps finally saw the end of their 100 per cent record as they were held by second bottom Rhoose B 1 - 1.

Thus ending Imps' 11 game winning run, although they still remain unbeaten and seven points clear at the top of the second division.

Elsewhere in division two, Barry Saints routed Barry Albion 8 - 1 to stay in second position while Penarth Town B climbed into third with a 4 - 0 victory over FC Pumas B.

BVFC dropped to fourth as they made it four games without a win as Island Marine B thumped them 4 - 0.

The division one title race continues to heat up with only two points separating the top four teams.

Barry Athletic B became the new leaders this week and in some style as they smashed Cadoxton Athletic 7 - 1.

FC Pumas came into the weekend as the pace setters but they were defeated 2 - 1 by fourth place SP Billy to drop to third, as Barry Belgrade stayed second with a 3 - 0 victory over Cadoxton Barry.

Dockers made it three games undefeated as they edged out Sully in a nine goal thriller 5 - 4.

And Glenbrook finally had something to cheer as they notched their first league win of the season, 4 - 3 against Cardiff Airport B, the win lifts Glenbrook off the bottom with Airport replacing them at the foot of the table.

The premier division only had two fixtures this weekend with teams involved in the SWFA Intermediate Cup.

Island Marine thumped Tynewydd 5 - 1, making it an impressive four wins out of their last five in the league.

Barry Athletic went fourth with a 3 - 0 away win over Dinas Powys Athletic.

In the aforementioned SWFA Intermediate Cup there were four Vale league clubs in action, unfortunately it wasn't a great weekend for the teams with only one progressing.

Vale United tasted their first defeat of the season as they crashed out 7 - 3 at home to the Bridgend league side Llangeinor.

Cowbridge Town were edged out 3 - 2 by Taff Ely Rhymney Valley league side Nelson Cavaliers.

Rhoose were eliminated but put up a tremendous effort against SWFA Alliance League Division One side Penrhiwceiber Con Athletic losing 3 - 2.

St Athan are now the only Vale league club remaining after they won 4 - 1 against Treorchy to advance to the last 16.

SWFA Alliance League Division Two side Cardiff Airport are the other Vale based club still involved in the competition that they got to the final of last season, after they won 5 - 3 against Fairwater.

Next week's games of the weekend look like being the west Vale derby in the premier division as Cowbridge Town host St Athan, the top two in division one clash as Barry Athletic B play Barry Belgrade, and it's second versus third in division two with Barry Saints facing Penarth Town B.
