UNDER-5 and under-6 PG10 fun football is booming in the Vale of Glamorgan with more record participation figures.

To celebrate Christmas a unique under-6 festival was held at the Vale Sports Arena, with hundreds of children enjoying the game and getting hooked on the sport.

The fun football provision was run by PG10 and supported by Everton FC. Since the provision opened, football opportunities for children aged five and six-years-old has risen so much it now sees more than a hundred under-5 and under-6 children playing football three times a week.

All the games are non-competitive played in a four versus four format and under the FAW mini football rules.

All children received a certificate of achievement and a player-of-the-day was awarded.

A PG10 spokesman said: “The sole aim of the fun football is to raise participation levels, create junior teams and increase standards.

"We now have more than 20 teams formed ready for September when the children can enter the under-7 junior league in their respective area."

As well as the football opportunities, coaches are also assisted with coaching sessions to aid player development throughout the week in their training sessions.

The under-6 provision is open to any child and any junior club in the area.
