A STRANGE sight was to be seen at the Glamorganshire Golf Club on Tuesday, December 20.
Father Christmas (Maggie Bosley) was being towed in his sleigh by two of Rudolph’s reindeer pals and chasing a lone male golfer on the course to give him a present.
The winners of the fancy dress were Maggie Bosley and her sister Bridie Griffiths and team mate Ann Cook (this year’s ladies vice captain).
Other contestants were various Mrs Santa Clauses and a Christmas tree.
The three clubs and a putter match itself on the day was won by Linda Seymour and Karen Blatchford in joint first place.
Following this event there was a a review of the golfing year with refreshments - mulled wine and mince pies, with a speech from the outgoing ladies captain Mrs. Alison Smith, followed by this year’s ladies captain Jan Carling who made presentations to ladies who had served on committee and were stepping down including Peni Malson, match and handicap captain and Heather Atkin, greens committee.
A special tribute was paid to Audrey Rayner who has been a member for 50 years, only hanging up her golf clubs and pull trolley nine years ago at the age of 90.
The 2016 Birdie Trophy-for the player with the most birdies in the previous golfing year went to Julia Baker.
The Turkey Trot prizes were won by Jan Smith (first) and Penny Hughes (second).
The Jubilee threes competition 2016 was won by Karen Blatchford, Ellen Davies and Geraldine Twamley
The free raffle draw for Sybil Lane’s Christmas cake was won by Cynthia Calrow.
