WINNING ways continued in the recent indoor matches at Penarth Bowling Club with victories in both Wednesday’s and Sunday’s fixtures.

In Wednesday’s men's match, the opposition was provided by Penarth’s very close friends and neighbours from the Murch Bowling Club, many of whose ranks are Affiliated members at Rectory Road during the winter months.

In a very pleasant match enjoyed by all it was the home team which dominated on this occasion with straight wins on all four rinks.

Well to the fore was Colin 'Braveheart' Grant, who, with the assistance of Phil Davies, John Whitfield and Trevor Jenkins won 23 - 6. Also in fine form were Berwyn Lansley, Don Shirley, Russell Daniel and Brian Knight (21-8) and Tony Thomas, Don Butler, Derrick Musk and Bob Hill (23-15).

With a fourth rink, comprising Bob Lewis, Phil Davidge, Mike England and John Bowen also victorious the result was a resounding overall success.

Cowbridge Bowling Club have been regular and very welcome winter visitors for many seasons past and have many fine bowlers in their ranks who can always be relied upon to run Penarth close.

Last Sunday proved no exception with the visitors inflicting defeats on two of the Penarth foursomes in this mixed game.

Penarth’s success in this one owed much to the talents of skip Bob Lewis who, with the help of Barbara Brown, Dave Rogan and Joan Lewis won handsomely by 25 - 5. The other rinks included Alan Stockham, June Williams, Sandra Roberts and Don Butler (16-12), Haydn Trow, Paul Church, Brian Knight and Norma Duggan (16-18) and Reg Jones, Chris Church, Berwyn Lansley and Betty Jones (13-15).
