WARM weather, blue skies and the clubs first female president, Veronica Flitney, welcomed the ladies and gentlemen bowlers to the opening day at the Windsor Bowling Club for the start of the 2017 season.

A few of the members were absent as the indoor season has still a few weeks to go, but around 60-plus members watched the new team captain's Joy Stockton, and Mathew Woodcock bowling the first woods, with Mathew winning the contest, although it is suspected Joy let him “have that one” to make him look good.

This year's calender is as full as ever, including friendlies from visiting teams from across the bridge.

Both the ladies and gentlemen have a full season of games in front of them against old rivals and the men will be eager to retain the Munro Cup and Hugh Meddins Trophy.

Finally, everyone at Windsor Bowling Club wishes all teams especially Penarth Rectory Road, and Penarth Belle View the very best of health and look forward to all games to be played in the months ahead.
