AFTER serving League 2 survival on the last day of the season Newport FC hosted a their junior tournament at the Newport International stadium

Over 500 children took part participating was PG10 Coaching who enjoyed a successful day in all its age groups

Playing up an age group in the U7 the talented U6 side reached the semi final stages being knockout out by penalties.

The U7 PG10 team packed full of talent won the age group beating Bristol based academy Total Pro Soccer in a tight penalty shootout.

The U8 enjoyed a wonderful day losing in the final of the tournament producing some fantastic performances.

At U9 level PG10 entered two sides, with both sides playing well all day they where paired together in the semi final in a incredible tight match. PG10 marched into the Final winning the competition to add to their Manchester Cup victory in April

The U10 displayed so much skill throughout the day marching into the final to fight back from a goal down to win the competition.

The U11 despite having a few players missing played some attractive football playing in the U12 section of the competition there older team mates at U12 level carried on there impressive season after winning the U12 section of the Junior Premier League by winning the Newport FC tournament at U12 level

Finally the U14 who didn't concede all day progressed in style to the final before losing to a talented Bristol side in a penalty shoot out.

Head of football Peter Griffiths: " I would like to commend Newport FC on a fantastic day of football, it what was a great weekend for the football club and welsh football with escaping relegation from League 2.

"The PG10 kids loved the tournament and we are thrilled to win so many age groups with so much talent on show.

"We look forward to touring Spain next week and linking in with Real Madrid and Malaga FC, but also all the exciting tournaments throughout the summer. Endless opportunities for all the children involved.
