LAST WEDNESDAY Sully Bowling entertained Dinas Powis Bowling Club to a lovely night by the sea side.

The home side where well beaten by a side who know how to draw to the jack, a skill a lot of Sully bowlers have yet to master.

Ben Curtis, Dave Davies Paul Neale and Hugh Levick Jones got a great 15-15 draw in the context of the game which Sully lost 40-110.

On the Saturday, Sully travelled to Bargoed on what, against the forecast turned out to be a nice day.

Bowling across all rinks was much inproved and a very keen game was had.

John Hubberd, Alun Rees, Doug Hotchkiss and Carl Best only lost 17-19 with Carl turning up straight from his sick bed.

Ben Curtis, Trevor Murphy, Hugh Levick Jones and Dennis Edwards suffered there first reversal losing 18-22.

Garth John, Doug Curtin, Alen Thomas and Dave Curtis, having trailed 11-19 at 15 ends came back to get a great 23-21 win.

Finally captain Andy Smith, John Bryan, Mike Hardy and Brian Griffiths tried everything possible being last rink on the green but winning 18-17 was not quite enough to avoid a 76-79 defeat in another very tight result but none the less another loss.

On Sunday two rinks travelled to Cowbridge for the quarter final of the Alun Martin Trophy.

With a lot of or better bowlers not available, it was a much change side to play on the synthetic green but it made everyone concentrate that bit more and come away with a very very good win.

Alen Thomas, Mike Hardy, Trevor Murphy and Dave Curtis winning19-25 and Ben Curtis, Hugh Levick Jones, Doug Hotchkiss and Dennis Edwards winning 15-23.

This week there are two away fixtures at Barry Romily on Wednesday and Thomastown near Merthyr on Saturday.
