WHAT a difference a week of good weather has made to Sully bowlers.

After two bad loses to Romily and Thomastown a week ago it was all change in Sully fortunes.

First of all in county competitions, it was great success across the board.

On the Sunday, Dave Curtis won the county two bowl competition against fellow club man Alun Rees.

On Mondaym Mr Curits with Brian Griffiths won the county seniors pairs.

On Tuesday they, along with Carl Best, won the county open triples.

Thursday saw the only set back when the rink of Andy Smith Alen Thomas along with Mr Curtis and Mr Griffiths narrowly lost in the final of the open rinks.

On Friday, Mr Curtis and Mr Griffiths this time with Doug Hotchkiss won the senior triples.

This gives WBA organisers a real headache in sorting out the national finals with the same people in so many competitions but very well done men.

Members of the club believe this in part due to the big improvement in their home green this year, rewarding good drawing bowls.

The club side also had a turn in fortunes with a good win at home on a lovely night to Barry Central with all rinks up winning 91-45.

On Saturday was an important league fixture against Barry Romily(A) which was a must win game for our league survival and the message seemed to have got through to the Sully bowlers so on the back of their major winnets that week the time started well and never looked back.

Gareth John H Levick Jones, Alen Thomas and Dave Curtis lost the first end but went on to win 47-3.

Andy Smith, John Bryon, Mike Hardy and Brian Griffiths won 20-13,

John Hubbard, John Best, Doug Hotchkiss and Carl Best won 22-19,

Ben Curtis, Albert Kelly, Trevor Murphy and Dennis Edwardes won 29-8.

Special mentions here for the display of superb play by Dennis who on the day could have walked the Channel.

He drove and drew with great accuracy bowling his opposite number of the park.

Not bad for a man closer to 90 than he cares to admit,

This week Sully are away again to Rhoose on Wednesday and Pontypridd on Saturday.
