FOR THE FIRST time this season, Sully Bowling Club's stars shone away from home and helped bring home 12 good points away from home at Pontypridd against a good Ynysangharad side. On a damp afternoon,in a park with rock a festival going on in the space next door, some of the sully bowlers found it hard going between the noise and the rain it was not the nicest days bowls we will remember.

But next week we are having ghetto blasters round the green because it seemed to help the standard of bowls.

Captain Andy Smith, John Bryon, Mike Hardy and Brian Griffiths got us of to a great start being 10-1 up after ten ends and going on after the tea break to win 25-8.

Garth John, H Levick-Jones, Alen Thomas and Dave Curtis kept their noses in front to win 23-20.

The tea break can do strange things in bowls and so it was for the John Hubbard, John Best, Doug Hotchkiss and Carl Best rink having been 18-7 up after tea they lost the last six ends but hung on 18-15.

Ben Curtis, Alun Rees, Trevor Murphy and Dennis Edwardes kept a really close eye on the scores and although always under the cosh made sure they where always in with a chance only losing by the odd shot 18-19, leading to a 22 shot win and 12 valuable points away from home.

On Wednesday the mid week side got four good points away to Rhoose with Dave Curtis' rink of R Fitzjohn, R Harvey and D Hotchkiss winning 28-8.

K Mahoney, J Hubbard, P Neale and H Levick Jones also won 16-13 But E Pryer D Davies H Thomas B Griffiths lost 14-26 and with A Kelly D Curtin A Smyth and A Thomas losing by 7-25 the over all was 65-72.

This week the club play Penarth Windsor on Wednesday night at home and St Albans on Saturday away again.
