THIS was one of those weeks which you would rather forget if you are a Sully bowler.

Wednesday's game at Belle Vue was cancelled due to a lack of interest.

A bad state of affairs as you can not force the members to put their names or maybe a view on the green in Penarth we will never know.

On Saturday,Bargoed were the visitors and probably the noisiest game of bowls ever played was the out come with the home side being out shouted from beginning to end.

After five ends there where only four shots in it and at 10 ends this had stretched to 11.

Sully then started to get used to the noise and a close game ensued.

At 15 ends it was 49- 59 and the decibels rose higher but at this stage the screw was being turned . Sully all to briefly led by four but then tragedy struck as a six was dropped and the other rinks tried to chase the game .So with rinks at tww each it became yet another narrow loss by seven, 73-80.

So near but yet so far.

Andy Smith, Eddie Pryer, Huw Levick-Jones, Brian Griffiths 19-16, Garth Jones, Dave Daves, Alen Thomas, Dave Curtis 26-10, Ben Curtis, Ajun Rees, Trevor Murphy, Dennis Edwardes 16-21, John Bryan, Huw Thomas, Doug Hotchkiss, Carl Best 12-33.

On Sunday the triple of Dave Curtis, Carl Best and Brian Griffiths went to Llandod to the national open triples finals.

Setting of early to play at 9-30 the men won their first game 17-16 to reach the quarter final but playing again at 2-30 was a step to for and they lost 12-20 but a great success to have got that far.

On Monday Dave and Brian do it again in the over 60s pairs, and on Tuesday again, this time with Doug Hotchkiss in the over 60s triple.

We wish them well. The club side are due to play Cowbridge on Wednesday at home and Thomastown on Saturday also at home.
