WITH only two weeks of the season to go, the Sully Bowling Club gets down too the pointy end of the business where every shot counts as the Saturday team are right on the cut line of teams to stay in division three.

With the league committee making some strange proposals for next year, as it stands Sully might just remain in league three.

It is in their own hands as they are at home on Saturday to the team just below them, Ynysangharad.

Last week on Wednesday a two rink friendly against Arriva Trains was held at home and on a very grey night with the light fading fast an honourable draw was declared with one rink up and one down.

It was good to see so many new people to the game enjoying themselves.

On Saturday, the summer sun shone at last as we played Romily in Barry.

Romily are in the bottom two so we knew points were there to be won and so it proved.

Gareth John, Dave Davies. A Thomas and Dave Curtis where 0-21 up in the first ten ends and went on to win 13-28.

Ben Curtis, Alun Rees, Trevor Murphy and Dennis Edwards although trailing 7-5 after five ends turned it around and where never really pushed to win 16-25. Club captain Andy Smith, Paul Neale, Huw Levick-Jones and Brain Griffiths were also always in control and ran out winners 15-22. The rink of John Hubbard Richard Fitzjohn, Carl Best and Chris Williams got the short straw and in the tightest of games that swung both ways in the end Romily came through by one shot 22-21, making it a comfortable 66-96 game but more importantly 12 valuable points.

With the members busy playing all their club competitions there is no midweek game just probably the biggest game of the season at home on Saturday the outcome of which will more than likely decide if the team stays in the third division.
