PENARTH have been relegated from the South Wales Premier Division One after defeat to Cardiff last weekend.

Hosting the game at the Athletic Ground Penarth won the toss and asked their visitors, who were chasing the title, to bat first.

Cardiff hit 236-7 from their 50 overs with 73 from Connor Brown and 51 from Alex Milton the main contributions.

Tom Sidford stood out with the ball for the bears, taking 3-46 from his five overs.

In reply, Penarth were bowled out for 110 in the 26th over of their innings.

Dafydd Manley top scored for Penarth with 18 as Cardiff won the game by 126 runs and sealed the title and Penarth's relegation.

The second team had a losing draw as they travelled to face Cardiff's second team.

Having won the toss and chosen to field, the bears saw Cardiff reach 291-7 from their 50 overs.

Adam Khattak hit 115 and his opening partner Richard Sen got 79.

Tim Miller's 3-62 and Steffan Crimp's 2-31 were the highlights of the Penarth bowling.

Penarth finished on 274-8 from their 50 overs with Jamie Hitchen smashing 145 at the top of the order as Cardiff picked up the winning draw as the bears finished in fourth place in the league.

The third team were also beaten as they hosted Undy and Magor at the Athletic Ground.

The bears won the toss and chose to field first.

Undy and Magor managed 254-9 from their 40 overs with Ed Willis leading the run scoring for the visitors with 68.

John Fitzpatrick took 3-32 for Penarth and Neil Stephens and Navan Kathir both took 2-47.

In response, Penarth were bowled out for 216 in the 38th over of their innings.

Chris Baker top scored for Penarth with 64 as they lost out by 38 runs and finished third in the division.

The fourths game at Abercarn was called off but they secured promotion to division seven.
