LAST Saturday saw probably the best day and best game of Sully's bowls season with no wind and good sun our visitors Ynysangharad had a very warm welcome for there first visit to the sea side.

As Sully's last league game, only a win was good enough to give us a sure position in the third division of the C M L After the first five ends the game was tied at 19-19 and at half way only two shots divided the teams.

As has happened so many times this year, Sully lost focus and at 15 ends were 12 down. The game looked lost.

Now whether it was the sun coming back out or not what we shall never know but suddenly ends started to be won again and the gap was closed.

Andy Smith, Eddie Pryer, Paul Neal and Brian Griffiths were off the green losing 17-27 but took a six on the 20th end to help the cause.

John Hubbard, Richard Fitzjohn, Alun Rees and Huw Levick Jones struggled all day losing 13-29 but again took five in the last three ends.

The penultimate rink of Ben Curtis, John Best, Trevor Murphy and Dennis Edwards, who had his 90 birthday on the Sunday, bowled brilliantly all afternoon and came of with a 24-13 win.

The scene was set only one wining rink left on the green and one bowl each to go.

The match score was tied but Sully held shot and this time the visiting skip failed so Sully had a well deserved one shot match win.

Garth John, Dave Davies, Alen Thomas and Dave Curtis won 26-10 with the match finishing 80-79.

A truly great finish with everyone round the green watching the last end.

On Wednesday is the last mid week game away to Belle Vue on Saturday is Glyn Cluthers Club Cup day all players are expected to play and the following week is club finals weekend.

Here is hoping the C M L come to there senses and leave the leagues in eights and not go down to sevens with sides having Saturdays with no game.
