DINAS Powys Golf Club has had some terrific results from members recently with Dai Roberts leading the way as a double champion.

The 18 handicapper captured the Col Gore plus and minus competition with a fine plus five.

In addition, on finals day he landed the 18 plus handicappers running tournament the Hopefulls cup.

A popular member who, this season is partnering former club captain Matthew Hadley in winter league is looking to build on these triumphs but on a lower handicap which veteran Bob Wilson will no doubt be notifying the match captain to administer in the near future.

Congratulations will be rubber stamped at the club presentation night early December.

The Spencer Harrison mixed competition was this year won by Roger Davies and Sian Smith who defeated Richard and Maxine Hird.

Davies, a prolific winner of the men's winter league in its early days with Ian Johnson and recently with Alan Humphries was ably supported by the accurate and enthusiastic Smith who was delighted with her contribution to the title.

The winter is nearly upon us and the Turkey competitions and winter league take centre stage at this time of year.

The first winners of the latter were Lindsay Bennett and Martyn Swensson with a brilliant net 61.

In atrocious condition the left handed pair carded four birdies which was enough to pip Simon Berni and Nick Madge who managed a respectable net 63.

Dave Russ and Howard Bellis won the second competition with a stableford score of 45 points.

The winter league is in its early weeks but Dale Sullivan and Ian Barclay will no doubt be in the mix come the business end of the tournament.
